First Female Presidential Candidate Victoria Woodhull Spent Election Night in Jail

Indianapolis, IN—In 1872, fifty years before the Supreme Court gave women the right to vote, psychic stockbroker Victoria Woodhull ran for President on the Equal Rights platform. Her vice-presidential candidate was runaway slave Frederick Douglass.
